About our house

Ed bought the house impulsively around 45 years ago, when it was a roofless ruin, after spending summers on Andros with friends as a teenager. In 1990, it was transformed into a simple family holiday home, where we've spent countless happy summers over the past 35+ years.

In 2026, the (adult) children took the reins and completed an extensive renovation, adding a pool, outdoor kitchen, additional bathrooms and a new master bedroom suite. We were careful to preserve the farmhouse's original character, and you'll still find features such as the old bread oven, olive press and the remains of the threshing wheel.

We've named it Portakalia Farmhouse —portakalia means "orange" in Greek. The house has evolved over the years, but the orange tree outside the main house has remained a constant, making it the perfect name for its next chapter.
